Job Summary:

The Psychiatric Registered Nurse II is a Psychiatric Nursewho utilizes evidenced based theory, assessments and interventions to promoterecovery in patients. This nurse utilizes primary nursing in collaboration withthe multidisciplinary team to meet the clinical needs of the patients and theunit as a whole. The Psych RN II is able to respond intuitively and withtherapeutic purpose to patient needs and to comfortably engage in clinicallysound risk taking. This nurse adapts allassessments and interventions based on the uniqueness of the patient by takinginto account developmental needs and chronological age. This RN is recognizedby others as a leader and provides mentorship to staff. They are adept at negotiating conflict,collaborating with others and applying self-reflection to their practice.Perform any duties and/or responsibilities assigned by Manager or supervisorfor which qualified.

Regulatory Requirements:

Must be licensed as a Registered Professional Nursecurrently licensed in Maine. Must have one year of Psychiatric Nursing anddemonstrate competency of Psychiatric Nursing. Must be BLS certified. AssociateDegree or higher. Completes Healthstream Mandatory Education and safety, workplace violence training on a yearlybasis. Attends all mandatory safetyrelated education programs. Followssafety procedures to prevent injury to self and others. Carries assigned keysand wears hospital ID badge at all times. Refrains from the abuse of chemicals.

Language Skills:

Must possess good oral and written communication skills inthe English language.

Physical Demands:

Visual acuity, color vision, hearing acuity, and tactilesensation are necessary to respond to patient response and requests. Theability to read and speak English, to communicate and document information.Must possess the manual dexterity and a degree of body strength and flexibilityto respond to aggressive patient behavior. The ability to reach and stretchintermittently. Time may be spent sitting at a computer, collaborating withother healthcare team members. Standing and walking comprises some of theworkday.

Professional Requirements:

Maintains patient confidentiality at all times. Represents the organization in a positive andprofessional manner in the community. Maintains regulatory requirements, including Joint Commission, Federaland State. Complies with allorganizational policies regarding EMHS's Code of Conduct and ethical businesspractices. Practices according to the American Nurses Association's Code forNurses and Standards of Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing. Maintains professional affiliations i.e.,membership in APNA of ANA of Maine.
