Position Summary

System engineer to support the Exchange 2016 environment and help plan out a migration to Office 365, along with other virtualization and infrastructure components.  The MS Exchange Engineer performs routine server maintenance and troubleshoots Exchange 2016 Server issues. There is required scripting experience as well as leveraging the Exchange Management Shell. 

Duties and Responsibilities include the following and any other duties as assigned by the supervisor:

  • Ability to install, maintain and support MS Exchange 2010 and 2016 in a virtual environment.
  • Proficiency in Windows PowerShell and specifically those commands needed to maintain MS Exchange 2016.
  • Strong background in TCP/IP, DNS and other network services that are required in an Exchange environment.
  • Provide Microsoft Windows Server operating system support including monitoring server performance and availability within compliance to Service Level Agreements.
  • Address operational systems issues including file and share permissions, user accounts and installing applications.
  • Promote server and application patch management processes.
  • Monitor server load and implement load balancing where appropriate.
  • Exchange Engineer will be tasked with maintaining production schedules and providing maintenance of OS and Exchange during maintenance hours and coordinating those with specific customers.
  • Demonstrated knowledge, experience and proficiency with Microsoft Windows Server 2012 and greater, Active Directory and other support services.
  • Experience implementing transport layer security (TLS).
  • Experience with VMware ESXi.
  • Functional knowledge of Exchange backup software/strategies.
  • Ability to adapt and work independently or with a team in a highly dynamic environment.
  • Knowledge and support of Group Policy. Strong trouble-shooting skills

 

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

  1. Demonstrated expertise implementing, managing and supporting Microsoft Desktop tools including operating systems, office systems, and support tools in an enterprise environment.
  2. Demonstrated expertise managing the entire desktop or server architecture lifecycle, including desktop image and software package management in a Microsoft Active Directory environment. This includes QA processes, image and package creation, QA, documentation, deployment and management. Tool set experience should include Microsoft deployment tools, SCCM and other packaging tools
  3. Experience implementing, managing and supporting mobile system desktop tools including operating systems, office systems and support tools in an enterprise environment
  4. Demonstrated successful experience in enterprise desktop patch and security management. This includes using system tools to test, QA, deploy, and manage desktop security and updates
  5. Excellent written and oral communication skills, including strong customer service abilities serving both internal and external customers
  6. Flexible and adaptable to changing activities, schedules and work loads
  7. Ability to simultaneously coordinate and complete most multiple projects in an organized, process oriented
  8. 5+ years’ experience in Windows or Unix, Server or Desktop architecture
