Security Officer - On Call
COMPANY INFORMATION:
In operation since 1964, Career Systems Development Corporation (CSD) helps at-risk youth through the contracted operation of Job Corps Centers . CSD has played a major role in the Job Corps national program since it was initiated in 1964. Funded by the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL), the Job Corps program aids disadvantaged youth by providing education (high school diplomas or GED certificate) as well as vocational training in a residential setting, then placing graduates in jobs that use their newly acquired skills.
HOURS: ON CALL - Center runs 24/7
OVERVIEW:
Responsible for enforcing all laws, rules and policies authorized by the Safety and Security Department.

MAJOR ACTIVITIES PERFORMED:
1. Demonstrates and abides by the Company Core Values and the operating principles.
2. Enforces all authorized laws, rules and regulations.
3. Patrols assigned areas and remains alert for disturbances, fires, safety hazards, traffic violators, suspicious acts and/or persons, and other unusual conditions.
4. Aids and assists visitors, students and staff.
5. Performs building security and safety checks.
6. Receives complaints and makes appropriate preliminary investigations.
7. Maintains harmonious relationships with local law enforcement agencies.
8. Provides escort service as directed.
9. Investigates vehicular accidents at center.
10. Issues visitor passes and temporary vehicle permits.
11. Quells any disturbances.
12. Prepares written accident reports and maintains security log.
13. Enforces center pass policy.
14. Attends required in-service training sessions.
15. Participates in the disciplinary process as established at the center, including zero tolerance for violence and drugs.
16. Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum: High school graduate or equivalent. Model company Core Values
Preferred: Minimum plus three to six months experience in a security or work-related capacity preferred.
Knowledge Required: Knowledge of riot and crowd control techniques preferred. Knowledge of law enforcement procedures preferred. Ability to obtain a State driver s license. Ability to obtain a bus driver s license. Must maintain CPR/FA Certification. Familiarity with problems of underprivileged, minority groups, especially youth. Good writing skills. Excellent communication skills
