COMPANY INFORMATION:
In operation since 1964, Career Systems Development Corporation (CSD) helps at-risk youth through the contracted operation of Job Corps Centers . CSD has played a major role in the Job Corps national program since it was initiated in 1964. Funded by the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL), the Job Corps program aids disadvantaged youth by providing education (high school diplomas or GED certificate) as well as vocational training in a residential setting, then placing graduates in jobs that use their newly acquired skills.
HOURS: Tuesday - Saturday, 1:00 PM - 10:00 PM; Must be flexible to work other hours as needed (OFF: Sunday & Monday)
OVERVIEW:
Supervises the day-to-day operations of the Safety and Security Department to provide maximum safety and security for students, staff, center property and the surrounding community. Serves as the center s designated safety and occupational health officer

MAJOR ACTIVITIES PERFORMED:
1. Demonstrates and abides by the Company Core Values and the operating principles
2. Establishes and communicates safety, security and fire prevention policies with pertinent center and Department of Labor regulations to students and staff
3. Contacts students who have been arrested and has necessary forms signed. Makes arrangements for fine and/or bail payment. Reports student incidents to the Academy Director
4. Serves as the center s representative and maintains effective liaison with law enforcement agencies in the community
5. Formulates and directs the maintenance of appropriate operations records covering such matters as:
a. Theft of Government or private property
b. Arrests of students by local law enforcement agencies
c. Violations of Federal or State laws occurring on the center property
d. Incident reports covering infractions of law or violations of center property
e. Retention of evidence obtained during investigations
f. Employees upon whom background or national agency checks have been requested
g. Fire inspections
h. Vehicle registration
i. Reports and investigations of vehicular accidents that occur on Job Corps property
j. Building inspections for security, safety, or fire hazards
k. Reports to Academy Standards and Incentive Officer on investigations concerning students
6. Responsible for insuring that departmental equal employment and affirmative action goals and objectives are met
7. Responsible for monitoring all center facilities to insure compliance with OSHA standards
8. Approves new hires; prepares and conducts performance appraisals
9. Maintains inventory of all keys assigned to center offices, buildings, etc
10. Participates in the disciplinary process as established on center, including zero tolerance for violence and drugs
11. Attends in-service training sessions
12. Conducts PRH required training with center staff
13. Performs other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum: Bachelor s degree in related field or equivalent combination of education and experience. Three years broad-based civilian, military security or fire prevention and safety experience, one of which was in a supervisory capacity.
Preferred: Master s degree preferred.
General Information: In order to perform the essential job functions of this position, candidate must have regular attendance.
Knowledge Required: Knowledge of standard security, fire prevention and safety procedures and OSHA requirements. Must possess a valid State driver s license. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written. Familiarity with the problems of underprivileged, minority groups, especially youth. Must obtain and maintain CPR/FA Certification.
