* Experience in interpreting and managing projects and initiatives related to The Joint Commission Hospital Emergency Management Standards.
* Experience in the management of comprehensive hospital emergency management plans.
* Expertise in developing, coordinating and executing large-scale hospital drills and exercises.
* Experience with the development of hospital-wide emergency preparedness-related training programs
* Expertise in developing, conducting and analyzing Hazard Vulnerability Analysis (HVA) in a variety of healthcare settings as well as developing related corrective action plans for deficient areas.
Position Summary
The Project Manager has primary responsibility for facilitating the planning, implementation and post implementation phases of various hospital emergency management related strategic projects for the department, Maine Medical Center and its affiliates. The Project Manager will determine the appropriate qualitative and quantitative measures to evaluate progress and successful implementation. These projects will result in measurable improvements that will impact clinical, administrative, financial systems, and/or the infrastructural systems of MMC and that will benefit our patients, families and staff. The Project Manager will also provide regular progress reporting to his/her supervisor and other groups as appropriate.
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
1. Bachelor's degree in a related field. Master's preferred. Additional training in Hospital Incident Command System (HICS) and Certified Hospital Emergency Manager (CHEM) certification preferred.
2. Five+ years project management experience that is multidisciplinary in nature with documented success in hospital emergency management. The position may also require the incumbent have proven work experience related to the other specific area of focus (e.g. clinical process improvement and facilitation, patient safety, etc.).
3. A high level of interpersonal skills are necessary to support dynamic work teams and communicate effectively with a wide variety of patients/families, hospital administrative staff, clinicians and external contacts and vendors.
4. A high level of analytical and critical thinking skills are needed to assist in the development of new systems, policies, techniques, training programs, procedures and to develop special and recurring reports or analysis.
5. Excellent oral and written presentation skills; ability to write and present for a variety of audiences.
6. Demonstrated highly developed organizational skills.
7. May require highly developed negotiation skills.
8. Knowledgeable of computer programs needed for position.
