STUDENT NURSE EMPLOYMENT PROGRAM (SNEP)

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS:

* Must be a nursing student in good academic standing who will finish degree by the end of May, 2013 and have completed:

o Junior (3rd) year of a Bachelors Degree (BSN) program

Or

o 1st year of an Associates Degree (ADN) program

Or

o Enrollment in a generic MSN program

* Must be currently on the State of Maine CNA Registry
* Answer all application questions
* Include a resume and e-mail address
* Specify what program you are enrolled in: BSN, ADN or MSN program

and your anticipated graduation date.

Upon receipt of application, an e-mail will be sent from the MMC Employment Office providing additional information and requirements for completion of the application process.

Rate of Pay is $12.00 per hour.

Summary of Position Description:

Under the supervision of a Registered Professional Nurses and according to defined policies and procedures, performs various service duties and technical tasks such as taking vital signs and assisting patients with basic hygiene and activities of daily living. Specific duties may vary by area of assignment. Consideration of the special needs and behaviors of specific patient populations is required.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

1. Must be certified as a Nursing Assistant by the State of Maine and be on the State of Maine Registry, having completed a six-week or equivalent course.

2. Ability to read, write, and speak English in order to follow oral or written instructions and complete standard forms.

3. Ability to perform simple arithmetic calculations.

4. Interpersonal skills necessary to exchange information and maintain courteous relationships with patients, families, visitors, and Maine Medical Center employees.

5. Knowledge of standards, policies, procedures and organizational structure of the unit, the Department of Nursing, and Maine Medical Center.

6. Participates in continuing education relative to role as defined.
