In compliance with Board-established policies, the Executive Director is responsible for carrying out the mission of Good Shepherd Food-Bank, including strategic planning, financial management, development, acquisition and distribution of food, community relations, facility and equipment maintenance and safety, and all legal compliance. Supervises and directs all department senior staff in the execution of their duties and evaluates their performance.

Job Responsibilities

* Administration and Board Liaison: Proposes policies for Board of Directors approval and administers approved policies. Report to the Board of Directors on all program results and utilization of resources. Assists and meets with the Board of Directors regularly scheduled meetings.
* People: Provide leadership and work direction to all direct reports and their staff with the purpose of developing GSFB management team to operate at their peak performance of excellence.
* Planning: Responsible for the development of short and long-term goals through strategic planning for the entire organization; for implementation and monitoring of action plans, evaluation of results, and succession planning.
* Finance: Responsible for the preparation of the organizational budget for both operational and capital needs for issuance of all checks, vouchers and payments; for monitoring the financial operations of the organization.
* Development: Responsible for the planning and implementation of a comprehensive fund-raising program. This includes hands on experience and ability in face-to-face solicitation.
* Programs: Responsible for monitoring programs of food acquisition and distribution to meet community needs; for collaborative efforts with other similar organizations; for research of other unmet food needs in the organization s service area.
* Community Affairs: Responsible for interpreting the purpose of the organization to the public through all means of communication available to the organization; for maintaining effective client relations with distribution agencies; and for maintaining appropriate relations with other social service and professional groups in the community.
* Legal: Responsible for meeting all appropriate legal requirements relative to the operation of the organization, including all public accountability at both state and federal levels.
* Facilities and Equipment: Responsible for the security and maintenance of facilities and equipment for the successful operation of the organization.

Application Qualifications

* Education: Bachelors degree required and Masters degree is preferred. Preferred experience in non-profit organizations, food industry management, and business administration. Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) certification desirable.
* Experience: Ten years of progressive executive experience within an organization of 50+ employees and an annual operating budget of at least $5 Million. Knowledge of human services systems, public relations and marketing, capital development, fund raising for charitable causes, government agencies, organizational planning and human resource management.
