Engineering Technician Facilities Management Specialist

This is an Engineering Technician position in the Naval Facilities Engineering Command, Mid-Atlantic (NAVFAC MIDLANT) serving as a Facilities Management Specialist (FMS). This position serves as a primary customer contact with responsibility for ensuring assigned facilities are professionally maintained at a level that meets mission requirements.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

DUTIES:

*
Coordinate all maintenance services for assigned facilities.

*
Review all projects that impact assigned facilities and customers for scope, complexity, and design to ensure that sound engineering principals are being utilized.

*
Maintain budget oversight by tracking estimates and expenditures and implementing controls necessary to keep budget execution in line.

*
Coordinate work between government forces and contractors to minimize delays that could result in excessive costs to the government.

*
Administer the emergency and service calls for assigned facilities.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

In order to qualify for this position, your resume must provide sufficient experience and/or education, knowledge, skills, and abilities, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are being considered. Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled and has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities, to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Coordinate all maintenance services for assigned facilities. 2) Maintain budget oversight by tracking estimates and expenditures and implementing controls necessary to keep budget execution in line. 3) Screen all work requirements considering issues of safety, urgency, health, and security in order to maintain the facility and minimize life cycle costs. 4) Analyze unusual conditions, determining causes and effects and initiating corrective action to meet needs of customer s facilities.

I possess a Master s or equivalent graduate degree or two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B, or J.D., if related.

This position is covered under the Defense Aquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) and requires additional education, training, and experience. Applicants should meet the DAWIA certification requirements for the Facilities Career Field and certified at Level II at the time of application. REQUIREMENTS:

Generally, current Federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. All qualifications and time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement and clearly documented in your resume.

HOW YOU WILL BE EVALUATED:

4. Ability to read, comprehend and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical manuals.
