This position is located in the Radiological Emergency Planning Division of the Radiological Control Office. You will ensure the Shipyard is prepared to respond to Nuclear Reactor accidents and other radiological emergencies. Responsibility includes planning, conduct, and evaluation of large scale reactor accident and radiological accident drills, development and control of budgets needed to operate radiological emergency facilities and the Radiological Emergency Planning Division office; maintenance and upgrade of response equipment within emergency facilities, as well as, the development and maintenance of Radiological Emergency Response Plans

DUTIES:
Ensure the Shipyard is prepared to adequately respond to a major radiological problem.
Prepare reactor or radiological accident scenarios and act as Drill Coordinator; ensuring all props, actors and referees are in place to support drill execution.
Prepare reports of drill and training exercises summarizing the Shipyard's performance and identify areas requiring improved performance.
Act as subject matter expert for and assist assigned response teams within the Emergency Operations Organization.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 or the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled and has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities, to successfully perform the duties of the position.
For the GS-11 position: I have at least one year of specialized experience at the GS-09 level in the federal government or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing the following duties: (1) Demonstrating knowledge of the radiological aspects associated with the overhaul and refueling/defueling of Naval Nuclear Propulsion Plants. (2) Demonstrating knowledge of radiological control procedures and practices.
For the GS-12 Position: I have at least one year of specialized experience at the GS-11 level in the federal government or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing the following duties: (1) Demonstrating a thorough practical knowledge of radiological emergencies and their consequences, nuclear propulsion plant systems, components and supporting systems (2) Providing technical direction on the engineering aspects of radiological controls in the event of a reactor or radiological emergency.

* Ph.d or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related.

REQUIREMENTS:
