You will work under the supervision and direction of an Electrical/Electronics Shop Supervisor, and work closely with the electrical/electronics training coordinator. You will lead three or more non-supervisory employees in the Production Resources Department at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in the Electrical/Electronics trades. The majority of employee s lead will be Electricians, Electrician Apprentices, Electricians in the Worker Skills Progression Program, and Electrician Helpers WG-05. He/she may also perform non-supervisory work of the same kind as that done by the group he/she leads. The function of this shop is to perform various tasks aboard vessels and crafts assigned to this Shipyard for construction, overhaul and repair, by performing the installation, removal, alteration, modification, fabrication, testing, and repair of all electrical systems, associated components, and equipment relative to Shop 51.

KEY REQUIREMENTS
* You must be a US Citizen.
* Must be registered for Selective Service, see Legal & Regulatory Guidance.
* Suitable for Federal employment as determined by background investigation.
* Selectee may be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
* You must obtain and maintain a security clearance.
* Overtime/Shif/Weekend Holiday Work may be required.

DUTIES:

* Recommends assignments of personnel to ensure skills training is optimized using current ships availability and schedule
* Distribute work and assign tasks to be performed by individual members of the group.
* Conducts detailed monitoring of in progress work to insure proper methods are followed and the product will conform to the exacting requirement and standards provided by a work authorization
* Assures the compliance of safety regulations and practices
* Responsible for reporting to a Code 950 Electrician Supervisor, on status and progress of work and the causes for any delay in work.
* Work in confined spaces that require heavy exertion, working in strained or awkward positions, standing, crawling, kneeling and stooping.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: Ability to do the work of an Electrician Leader without more than normal supervision such as: assigning tasks to three or more workers, relaying instructions from the supervisor, setting the pace of the work as a journey level Electrician, demonstrating proper work practices, determining material and equipment needs, coordinating work with other trades and implementing effective methods for installing, repairing, modifying and replacing electrical systems within the facilities.
