Under the general direction the US Data Governance Office executive of TD Bank NA, this position will provide leadership in the area of Data Standards. The Data Standards role will be responsible for evolving the standards framework that is in place today to support Basel II across all type of asset classes within the United States. The person will maintain the data steward guide and Data Standards Framework documents. The Data Standards Manager will facilitate communications between Data Stewards, Data Owners, information technology, and project management to ensure all parties are informed of Data Standards, their changes, their uses, and the monitoring processes around those standards.
The Data Standards Manager participates in data governance meetings, engages data producers and consumers to resolve master data issues. Monitors the quality of master data, data mappings and establishes new business rules/standards to improve data quality throughout the organization. Responsible for data quality/standard issue escalation and resolution through data governance councils.
Responsible for supporting the strategic objectives of the Data Governance Office, Basel Program, and the corporation. This is a business leadership position reporting up through the Risk organization of TD Bank, with an emphasis on creating strong partnerships with both business stewards and technology leaders.
Skills & Abilities:
- Provides leadership and direction in data quality and data integrity improvement initiatives
- Demonstrates intimate experience executing data cleansing plans developed with the business and participating in triage and root cause analyses of data quality issues
- Ensures that data governance and quality standards are fully leveraged by business owners
- Establishes business rules for data maintenance processes
- Builds effective relationships with internal and external business process stakeholders to influence decision making processes
- Develops, documents and publishes the master data governance business processes and works closely with business partners such as data stewards, data producers, data consumers and governance board members
- Identifies the business opportunities for improving the integrity, quality and consistency of data across various systems and develops ROI
- Experience with process improvement methodology such as lean or six-sigma
- Experience working with diverse teams to bring them to common understanding in creating objects such as normalized set of values, data standards
- Has critical thinking, analytical skills and business acumen needed to make decisions, solve problems under tight timeframes
- Excellent verbal, written, facilitation and interpersonal communication skills
- Excellent planning, organizational, and decision-making skills required
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Products: WORD, EXCEL, POWERPOINT, PROJECT and VISIO
Qualifications:
- Five to Six 5 to 6 plus years of relevant experience in business technology or data management role, with at least 2 years of experience with Data Governance efforts
- Knowledge of software implementation methodologies, Requirements Management and traceability 'Experience with System Development Lifecycle Methodology
- Understanding of Data Management techniques and master and metadata software
- B.S. in Business or Technology related field, or the equivalent, is required Master's degree is preferred
- Financial services industry and BASEL II preferred.
