The Maine Business School at the University of Maine invites applications for a tenure track, academic-year Assistant Professor of Accounting to begin Fall 2012 or Spring 2013. Our primary teaching need is in Auditing and Financial Statement Analysis, but other areas of expertise will be considered. Teaching Principles of Accounting classes may be required. The successful candidate is required to have a Ph.D in Accounting from an AACSB-accredited program by date of hire, demonstrated evidence of high-quality teaching ability, and demonstrated ability to engage in quality research leading to publications in peer-reviewed journals in accounting. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are also required.

The expected teaching load per semester for tenure-track faculty is two or three classes with no more than two preparations per semester. Candidates may be required to teach using distance delivery technology and should foster collaborative relationships with the business community. New faculty are required to establish a research program leading to publications in refereed journals in their area of expertise. Limited service to the school or university is supported while working toward tenure.

The MBS offers a B.S. degree in Business Administration with majors in accounting, finance, management, and marketing, as well as concentrations in international business, entrepreneurship, and management information systems. MBS also offers a Masters of Business Administration with tracks in Accounting, Business and Sustainability, Management, Finance, and International Business.
