Tenure-track Faculty Position in Mechanical Engineering

The University of Maine, Department of Mechanical Engineering invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin September, 2012. Candidates for the position are required to be highly motivated in research with a background in fluid mechanics. Collaborative research opportunities exist both within the department as well as with a number of nationally renowned research centers on campus such as Laboratory for Surface Science and Technology, AEWC Advanced Structures and Composites Center, Climate Change Institute, Forest Bio-products Research Institute, and Maine Sea Grant. The successful candidate will be required to develop a strong research program and teach undergraduate and graduate courses in traditional areas of mechanical engineering such as theoretical and computational fluid mechanics, thermodynamics and heat transfer. A Ph.D. degree or equivalent in mechanical engineering or related fields is required by the date of hire.
