Wage Band/Start Wage: Wage Band 19, $12.17/hr
Full-time, soft-money funded (current funding through, August, 2012. Continued funding contingent on new grant to be determined May, 2012)

The primary purpose of the Administrative Assistant is to support the operation of the TRiO Upward Bound and TRiO Student Support Services programs by primarily assisting the TRiO Technology and Administrative Coordinator. Secondary, is to work as a team member and provide administrative and complex clerical support to the other professional staff members in the TRiO Programs office. The Administrative Assistant utilizes procedural knowledge and organizational skills to perform administrative and clerical tasks requiring confidentiality, attention to detail, and accuracy. The Administrative Assistant plays a significant role responding to outside inquiries from students, parents, USM faculty and staff, high school teachers and staff, and community partners and must have strong listening, oral and written communication skills. The Administrative Assistant must have excellent time management skills; have the ability to work independently and the willingness undertake non-routine administrative tasks in support of staff and programs, such as assisting with Upward Bound s career internship program.

QUALIFICATIONS: Required: High School or General Equivalency diploma, experience with computer programs, such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Access database software, and ability and willingness to learn new software, experience working with, and demonstrated respect for, high school and college students, knowledge and understanding of barriers to be overcome by SSS/UB students in order to successfully attain a four year college degree. Preferred: any combination of education and experience equivalent to an Associate s degree, experience in an office setting and knowledge of office methods and procedures including receptionist responsibilities, preparing correspondence, filing and use of office equipment, personal experience overcoming barriers similar to those faced by SSS/UB students.Experience working in programs with objectives similar to SSS/UBBay.
